HOW TO NOT GAIN 5 POUNDS DURING A SNOW STORM
How to not gain 5 pounds during a snow storm
Nearly everyone loves a snow day. Time off work, sleep late, everyone stay home and we get to enjoy the beauty of the snow.
And then, there is “cabin fever.”
If you can’t get out, you start wandering around the house. And where do you normally end up? In the kitchen, and that is where you find yourself over and over through out the day.
Pretty soon, the snacking and cooking has commenced, and you might find yourself gorging on a variety of goodies you might normally not be eating. Couple that with the lack of exercise and you have soon set sail towards a “plus” mark on the bathroom scale. At Fitness One, our awesome line up of fitness classes and personal trainerscan keep you motivated. But if stuck at home, our hands are tied until the roads are closer to normal.
Here a few ways to not let the extra pounds sneak up on you during the winter days you are stuck at home.
1. Get up and move.
Even if you cant attend one of our fitness classes you can still burn a few calories just by getting up and moving. A few jumping jacks here and there, maybe a few burpees just to get your heart rate up. Of course something like a 10-10-10 is always great as well. (10 squat, 10 pulls, 10 pushes)
The important thing is to move. Sitting around all day 2 or 3 days in a row isn’t just a recipe for weight gain, it makes you feel like a slug.
2. Stay on the meal plan
We recommend a special meal plan to all of our members. One of the rules, stay clear of whites (rice, pasta, flour, sugar potatoes) is a great way to keep your calories in check, but only if you know the other rules as well. When cutting out processed foods, the trick is knowing what to replace those foods with. We can show you how in my Fat Loss Blueprint program.
Another tip is to be extra careful with the snacking. A cookie for example could be 100+ calories. Eat 3 and you could have had a full meal of nutritious food. Use you head.
3. Be ready to get to the gym and back to normal as soon as the weather clears.
No reason to beat yourself up if you fall a little bit off the wagon. Having your schedule ready to get back on your plan Will reverse any negative effects being stuck in the house may have had, it will just take a little bit of work.
If being snowed in and feeling a little sluggish has motivated you to take action on a fitness routine, contact us. I will have a certified personal trainer reach out to you to discuss options that one of our programs at fitness one can provide.
